Only I draw creepy-ass-shit stuff for birthday cards :
It was Jessie's (~Ferra-Leah
) birthday on the 10th, so she loves Lord of the Rings, and she loves lego, so me and ~Radioactive-Insanity
got her a lego LOTR set of the Black Gate, which includes the Mouth of Sauron; this lovely toothy fellow you see depicted here! I love that guy. His design is so cool and creepy, his helmet is awesome, and he is so snarky in his own evil-henchman way. He is only seen in the extended version of LOTR, Return of the King. I think his scene was awesome, however short it was. Shoulda been in the original cut! xc
So I got this idea in my head, what if I made a card and it was the mouth of sauron and when it opens it shows the Mouth of Sauron screaming "Happy Birthday!". My card-idea evolved until this happened. I spent too much time on it >_> But I am proud. I don't work in traditional media often! The text was created by printing out the desired text & font (size and spacing etc), then I cut a box around "Happy Birthday Jessie", coated one side of the paper with white charcoal, then just re-traced the letters and pressed really hard to get the chalk to create an impression on the card. This created a white outline I could use for my silver pen, and I just dusted off the excess chalk once I was done :3
So to me, this card is funny; my brand of humour includes things that are creepy but are presenting a happy message; like "Happy Birthday" XD I dunno, I guess I'm weird like that; the contrast amuses me.
This was super hard to photograph; I tried fixing the colours in Photoshop as best as I could!
Mixed media! Copic markers, prismacolor pencils, fabercastell pencils, white gel pen, bristol board. Glue. Silver marker/pen.
